RESEARCH

Quantum simulation of functional molecules (aromatic, organometallic, supramolecular) grafted at surfaces

The project aims at strengthening the theme "surface chemistry" of the axe "theoretical chemistry" of the laboratory. Functional molecules present multiples properties in gas phase or solvated as chirality, molecular recognition by coordination or encaging, electronic conduction, magnetism or catalysis. However to be used in practice in a device, it can be important to deposit them on a support. The project will develop a quantum chemical simulation of the molecule-support interaction and will study the influence of the support on the molecular properties, preserving or cancelling them. Self-assembly processes and competition between molecule-molecule and molecule/surface interactions will be especially considered.
