Title : "THE INS AND OUTS OF CELLULAR MORPHOGENESIS"

Abstract : I seek to understand the basis of cellular morphogenesis, and its crosstalk with the internal organization of cellular space. How do cells generate a given morphogenesis ? How might cells sense their shape or size ? To tackle these questions I couple the use of biophysical approaches like micro-fabrication and computational modeling with quantitative model organisms such as the rod-shape fission yeast cell and sea urchin embryos. I will present studies on the cross-talk between microtubules, cell polarity and cell shape in fission yeast and will also discuss the role that mechanical properties of these cells play in regulating polarized growth and morphogenesis. In a second part, I will talk about work on the influence of cell geometry on division plane positioning in sea urchin cells. I will then open on recent and future projects continuing these different themes.
