3D Genomics2020 is an international school that was supposed to happen last March in Aussois (Savoie), and that we co-organized with Cédric Vaillant (ENS de Lyon) and Ivan Junier & Nelle Varoquaux (Université Grenoble-Alpes). Its aim was to foster crosstalks between disciplines in 3D Genomics, in particular by training young experimentalists to modeling and by sensitizing young modelers to experimental biology. Due to the COVID crisis, it was first postponed to end of November, at first as an on-site conference but eventually as a virtual conference.

The mourning of the mountains having passed, it was actually a great (virtual) experience and a big success. Being online allowed us to host more than 400 participants coming from more than 30 different countries, from US West coast to Japan, and with various backgrounds from biology to theoretical physics. Thanks to an awesome interdisciplinary program with great speakers, each of the four sessions assembled in average more than 200 attendees allowing lively and interesting discussions. If you missed 3D Genomics 2020, don’t worry: presentations have been recorded and should be available soon on https://3dgenomics2020.sciencesconf.org/ and a next edition will certainly be organized in 2022, hopefully as an in-person meeting!
