How to get to Aussois?

By plane:

You can fly directly to Lyon airport - St. Exupery (formerly Satolas) - with most international companies. There are a lot of direct flights from Paris (Air France - Delta), Amsterdam (KLM - NWA), Frankfurt (Lufthansa - United), Munich (Lufthansa - United), Milan (Alitalia), Rome (Alitalia) etc... We can pick you up at the Lyon aiport or you can use public transportation to Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, or reach the railway station (gare de la Part-Dieu) and continue by train to Modane.

By train:

If you depart from Paris, you can go directly to Modane (7 km from Aussois) and it takes about 4 hours. However, there are only two direct TGVs (fast trains) starting at Gare de Lyon (Gare de Lyon is one of Paris stations!) in the morning. Another possibility is to go to Lyon by TGV (e.g., from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Gare de la Part-Dieu in Lyon).  The TGV departs from Paris approximately every hour and the journey takes 2 hours. Then you can use public transportation to Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon or continue by train to Modane. There are about 10 TER trains from Lyon to Modane (starting at 8h30) and the journey takes about 3 1/2 hours. There is only limited number of direct trains!

If you depart from a city other than Paris, you should go first to Lyon or to Chambery and then take a connecting train for Modane. There are several trains from Geneve (Switzerland), Marseille (France), and Torino (Italy) to Lyon or to Chambery. Then you can go directly to Modane or we can pick you up at the train station in Lyon, in Chambery or in Grenoble.
