The course describes the structure and function of nucleic acids : the physical chemistry of DNA and RNA, the structure and functional organization of the genome, the expression of the genetic information, the cellular cycle. It also addresses the manipulation of genetic information and its applications. The concept of chemical signals and their effect and integration in the cell is also discussed. The course and some tutorials briefly deal with crystallographic studies of proteins and bioinformatic approaches of genomics. Finally, an introduction to virology is presented, as well as morphogenesis in plants.
The course also includes lab courses presenting techniques and applications of in-vitro genetic engineering.

Pré-requis

Cours "Méthodes de Biologie Moderne" (M1 S1).

Modalité de l'examen

Moyenne de 5 notes : 3 notes d’examen sur les cours, 1 note de TP et une note de présentation de travail bibliographique.
