I present measurements of heat currents by sensitive and fast thermometry on mesoscopic heat baths. I discuss the physics and experiments of quantized heat conductance, with reference to heat transport in classical systems. Then I focus on a particular open quantum system formed of superconducting qubits and resonators, coupled to heat baths. In this context microwave photons carry the heat. Towards the end I present preliminary experimental results on fundamental temperature noise of a metallic calorimeter (bath), and our progress towards detecting single microwave photon quanta by this calorimeter.
