Any realistic quantum system is subjected to coupling to an environment, which influences it in a non-negligible way. Under general approximations it is possible to give a probabilistic description of the system-bath interaction thanks to the so-called Lindblad Master Equation for Open Quantum Systems [1], which is particularly relevant for experimental platforms such as semiconductor microcavities and superconducting quantum circuits. During this talk we will discuss the differences between phase transitions in- and out-of equilibrium [2], and comment on recent theoretical results about 1st [3, 4] and 2nd [5] order phase transitions in the Driven-Dissipative Bose-Hubbard model.
