MT180 2022: 2 candidates from ENS Lyon win the regional final

Organized by the Université de Lyon, the regionalfinal of the My Thesis in 180 Seconds (MT180) competition was played to a full house on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Bastien Marguet and Arthur Guerin-Turcq are the lucky winners of this local final. They will go to the national semi-final on April 8 and 9, 2022 in Paris.

Fourteen doctoral students from the Lyon Saint-Étienne site presented their research project in three minutes to a jury composed of teacher-researchers, a journalist, a representative of the business world and a scientific mediator.

Bastien Marguet won the jury's first prize for his thesis on "Modeling of the formation of grain boundaries in two-dimensional materials: application to graphene" and Arthur Guerin-Turcq won the public's prize for his thesis on "Forests and the Commons. The French peri-urban forest between common good and club good".

Arthur Guerin-Turcq is currently PhD student at the Environment City Society Laboratory (EVS). Discover his performance:

The evening was also broadcast live on the université de Lyon Facebook page and is now available for replay on their YouTube channel.

The two winners will defend Lyon's colors in Paris during the national semi-final on April 8 and 9, 2022. The national final will take place in Lyon on May 31. We hope to see you there!
