Scientific breakthrough program 2019

IDEXLYON is launching for the second year the call for proposals Scientific Breakthrough Program (SBP) to support the most innovative and ambitious research activities the Lyon Saint-Étienne site has ever undertaken.

Objective

To support the most innovative and ambitious research activities the Lyon Saint-Étienne site has ever undertaken. The selected projects will aim to generate new knowledge to respond to major scientific, technologic, societal and economic challenges. They must be able to identify the positive impacts the projects will have made in 3 years' time. In addition to their scientific interest, the selected projects should contribute to the Lyon Saint-Étienne site's international policy and profile and enhance its attractiveness by developing new areas of research.

Eligibility criteria for applicants

• The projects will be led by a select number of researchers and faculty (investigators), and will involve between 2 and 5 teams;
• The main project holder (main investigator) must hold a permanent position at one of the IDEXLYON partner institutions;
• Projects with external partners are eligible, but only if activities using the site's laboratories are funded independently;
• Project holders may not be members of the IDEXLYON governing board (Executive Committee, Academic Group or Scientific Advisory Board - SAB).

Selection criteria

• The pre-selection process will be carried out by the IDEXLYON governing board (Executive Committee, Academic Group or Scientific Advisory Board - SAB) and will draw on external expertise;
• Interviews for project holders selected for the second round will take place in September 2019;
• Project holders may not be members of the IDEXLYON governing board (Executive Committee, Academic Group or Scientific Advisory Board - SAB).

Application modalities

A letter of intent must be sent by February 14th 2019 noon to the mail address sbp.idexlyon [at] universite-lyon.fr (copy agnes.gahigi [at] universite-lyon.fr and the Head of Research of your institution). The model (French version only) is available enclosed and on the dedicated web platform.

Warning: Are only authorised to submit an application form the projects that will be selected by the Groupe académique following the examination of the letter of intent.
