The 1st year Master's program (M1) in “Advanced Economics” with a major in analysis and economic policies accredited by the Jean Monnet University (UJM), the Université de Lyon 2 and the ENS de Lyon, offers coherent and thorough training in economics to the highest international standards. Its goal is to prepare students for top-level careers on the international scene and in the world of public or private research.

This training program includes courses given at the UJM, one day per week, and courses at ENS de Lyon, on the four remaining days.
For academics from ENS de Lyon, the course in "Advanced Economics (M1)” goes into more depth, building on the initial training in economics providing students with the latest tools in contemporary economics so that they can study the economic and social stakes of the world today. This 1st year Master’s (M1) is part of the ENS de Lyon diploma providing a solid foundation for students to continue their studies to doctorate level that is so integral to the ENS de Lyon academic pathway.

The program is based upon a fundamental disciplinary basis in micro-economy, macro-economy, and optimization, as well as statistics and econometrics. This knowledge is developed further in more specific courses with the goal of examining major economic and societal issues of today.

In keeping with the globalization of the world’s economy, the majority of the courses are taught in English, providing excellent preparation for students to continue their studies with a 2nd year Master’s (M2) in "Economics and Finance” as part of the Master’s degree in analysis and economic policies, taught exclusively in English.
