Application for Master's degrees - Non-europeans

Non-european students can apply for our Master's degrees (M1 or M2) depending on the quality of the candidate’s academic profile and motivation for research or/and teaching careers.

To apply as international students, candidates have to meet two requirements: not having the French nationality and coming from a foreign higher education institution.

Applications are reviewed by the ENS de Lyon's admission committee.

Application process

Procedures for registering in a French higher education institution vary depending on your nationality, your country of residence and your educational plans. Some countries are concerned by the "Studying in France" procedure (the CEF procedure) which is a common online process.

1 - Complete and submit the online form 

If you live in the countries concerned by the "studying in France" procedure, you will need to register only on Campus France.

If you apply directly to the ENS de Lyon, your application will not be considered.  

2 - Application review

All applications are reviewed by the admission committee of the ENS de Lyon. No results will be given by phone. 

3 - Results

The results will only be sent by mail to all candidates. 

4 - Admissions and enrolment

If your application is accepted, you will receive a mail of pre-enrolment and the procedures to be followed for enrolment.

Information to prepare your stay in Lyon

1- Complete and submit the online form 

Call for application : from December 19, 2018 (at 2.00 pm, French time) to January 17, 2019 (at 11.59 pm, French time)

Documents to be uploaded on the online form:

  • All candidates, you must upload the following documents:
    • A transcript of your grades for your past and present studies, in French or in English
    • Certified copies of university degrees, in French or English
    • Copy of your passport or national ID card
    • Resume
    • Cover letter
    • Reference letter
    • If you are applying for a Master’s program in the Arts, Humanities, Languages or Social Sciences: a summary of your research project in French (3 pages maximum)
    • Certificate of Language Proficiency

2 -  Application review

All applications are reviewed by the admission committee of the ENS de Lyon. No results will be given by phone. 

3 - Results

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Results will be published on February on the online platform.

4 - Admissions and enrolment

If your application is accepted, you will receive a letter of pre-enrolment and the procedures to be followed for enrolment.
