Betsy Erkkilä (Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley) est Professeur de littérature à Northwestern University. Elle est l'auteur de The Whitman Revolution: Why Poetry Matters (Iowa UP, à paraître); Mixed Bloods and Other Crosses: Rethinking American Literature from the Revolution to the Culture Wars (Penn Press, 2005); The Wicked Sisters: Women Poets, Literary History, and Discord (Oxford UP, 1992); Whitman the Political Poet (Oxford UP, 1989; paperback 1996); et Walt Whitman Among the French: Poet and Myth (Princeton UP, 1980). Elle a dirigé Songs of Male Intimacy and Love: Live Oak, with Moss and Calamus de Walt Whitman (Iowa UP, 2011).
