In the past five years, experimental advances have enabled the continuous tracking of quantum states in time, as information is collected on the fly from a measurement process. I will review the theory and experimental basics of the field of superconducting qubits, and discuss some recent advances in how these continuous measurements give further insight into foundations of quantum mechanics, as well as possible applications of these methods to carry out tasks in quantum information processing such as state tomography and continuous error correction.
