e-Toile is an experimental GRID plateform. It is an RNTL project (réseau national de recherche en logiciel) funded by the French ministry of research.
Project goals
The project's goals are as follows:
-
To develop a GRID testbed
-
based on VTHD and Renater backbones;
-
enabling the testing of computing-intensive and data-intensive applications.
-
To develop a middleware prototype
-
that integrates the most recent and relevant works of the french computer science laboratories (INRIA, CNRS);
-
focused on enhanced communication services.
-
To Provide a high performance network and software support for the ACI-GRID initiative.
RESO's contribution
Our contribution to the project is focussed on the active networks technology. It consists in:
-
studiing applications needs in terms of networking;
-
deploying Tamanoir active routers at the edge of the backbone; download;
-
developping specific active services for the project:
-
active quality of service management service, QoSINUS; download;
-
active reliable multicast service; download;
-
active data filtering.
-
integrating and validating those active services with the grid's middleware.
