Integrable models constitute a specific class of models of low-dimensional physics. The two-dimensional Ising model is probably the most famous among these. What makes them so special is that they can be solved exactly, meaning that numerous quantity of interest for their physics can be computed in an explicit way. Even though rare among all models of theoretical physics, owing to their exact solvability, these models offer the possibility to forge oneself an intuition of a physical phenomenon that is captured by the model. That constitutes a precious information.
In this colloquium, I shall discuss the various inputs that integrable models have had to the understanding of the phase transition phenomenon, this starting from the seminal works of Onsager up to the very recent results that I've obtained in collaboration with Duminil-Copin, Krachun, Lammers, Manolescu and Oulamara.
