AI has opened a new path for atmospheric modeling, with gains in both quality and computational efficiency. Recently, the first data-driven weather forecasting models have become operational in several meteorological services. At Météo-France, the topic of AI for weather prediction is being explored from various angles. This presentation will provide a broad overview of our main research directions along with some results. We will present, in particular, the progress made in developing a high-resolution regional forecasting model, statistical downscaling at fine scales, and the generation of ensemble forecasts.
