Title: Harnessing complexity in photonics for neuromorphic computing and security applications
Abstract: In this talk novel devices and architectures for neuromorphic computing and security applications will be presented. The benefits of using integrated photonic approaches compared to previous bulk-optics approaches for such applications will also be discussed. In particular, novel photonic architectures for reservoir computing and for building a specific type of security primitives, known as physical unclonable functions, will be described. The proposed approaches provide several advantages in terms of compactness, costs, and robustness by harnessing the intrinsic randomness and non-linear behavior of photonic circuits.
