The Leslie effect is an out-of-equilibrium effect that appear as a rotation of the molecules of a chiral liquid crystal when they are subjected to a flux of foreign molecules. This effect is easy to understand because it is similar to a windmill rotating because of the wind, but at a molecular scale. From this coupling results many interesting experimental obervations that I will detail during my presentation. As a teaser for my presentation, you will find attached a picture from my experiments.
