In this talk, I will discuss how to emulate the physics of topological insulators using simple acoustic systems. These systems are made of newtworks of slender tubes, which can be shown to be accurately described by a lattice Hamiltonian, analogous to those found in solid state physics for thighly bound electrons. I will show with simple examples, in both one and two dimensions, that exotic topological effects can be studied in a controlled context. This analogy is not only fruitful for theoretical considerations, but also greatly facilitates an experimental study, and I will present a few experimental results in this context.
