Équipements

Our team shares a wide range of experimental skills and equipment.

Among the many equipments shared by our team, most are unique home-made devices to study various aspects of fluid dynamics. The following list provides a quick overview of the large equipments:

  • Wind tunnel & active grid
  • Rotating table (PERPET)
  • Cold chamber
  • Cryostats and Helium recovery system
  • Platform for plasma turbulence
  • Lagrangian Exploration Module (LEM)

These equipements are complemented by shared tools:

  • LaVision Shake-the-box and Mini-shaker system
  • Dedicated cameras, including fast cameras and neuromorphic cameras
  • Optical components and light sources
  • Transducers (Pitot tubes, hot wires, thermometers)
  • Optical tables

The technical expertise in the team covers numerical simulations (DNS, Dedalus, Rare event algorithms, Climate models, etc), signal processing (trajectory reconstruction, Eulerian statistics, Neuromorphic cameras), Flow preparation (stratification, wave generators, convection, inlet conditions, controlled ice preparation), and instrumentation (active grid, plasma turbulence probes, cryogenic probes).
