Impact of digital technologies
Environmental impact and its mitigation of computation. Reflexion on the indirect impacts and the widespread use of these technologies.
The future of computation (for machine learning or simulations) is also linked to its environmental impact, both direct and indirect. The first topic is tackled in cooperation with the CBPsmn center, which developed several original tools to monitor and decrease energy consumption and hardware renewal.
A reflexion on its indirect impacts, linked to the widespread use of such technologies in society at large (agriculture, medicine…) will be tackled, especially jointly with the new INRIA team SEMIS hosted by ENS de Lyon.
