Optical study of lead halide perovskite nanocrystals housed in various mesoporous structures

Motivated by the swift ascent of performance in lead-halide perovskite-based photovoltaic devices, a parallel branch of research started paying a close attention to their nanostructured counterparts. Although the state-of-the-art nanocrystals synthesized through colloidal methods already deliver near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield, certain limitations to commercial development such as process complexity, necessity for inert atmosphere, stability and toxicity, remain a cause for concern. Therefore I focused a part of my research to study the feasibility of growing nanocrystals in mesoporous materials as ready-to-use nanocomposites for optoelectronic device integration. In this presentation, I will describe some experimental work and results that shine the light on how controlling some morphologic aspects of the mesoporous template can enable a fine tuning over the optical response of the hosted perovskite nanocrystals.
