Structures et Interactions des Molécules Biologiques - M. Spichty

We apply atomic-level computer simulations and molecular and cellular biology experiments to gain insights into the dynamic structure of biomolecules (mainly proteins) and their interactions in living cells. The main goal is to understand the factors that determine the interaction strength between proteins and how the cell modulates these interactions to regulate biological functions.

Applications:

Exploring the structural regulation of the anti-cancer target heat-shock factor 1 (HSF1).

Inhibititon of HSBP1 as a potential stategy to reduce protein aggregation in NDs.

Design of photosensitive proteins, i.e., enzymes that can be activated and deactivated through light (in collaboration with the team of Dr. Yvert).
