Considerable improvements have been achieved in the field of superconducting quantum circuits over the last two decades. In circuit quantum electrodynamics, qubits are realized with Josephson junctions and manipulated with microwave photons. With the huge improvement in coherence time, simple quantum algorithms and quantum simulations have recently been performed with few superconducting qubits. The challenge is now to reach quantum supremacy by scaling up to build quantum machines that outperform classical supercomputers. I will discuss recent developments and forthcoming challenges of superconducting quantum machines.
