MOLLEREAU LAB

The overall objective of our research is the study of programmed cell death mechanisms in the context of a whole organism. Apoptosis and other forms of cell death such as programmed necrosis are tightly regulated, and their dysregulation can lead to cancer (defect in cell death) or cellular degeneration (excessive cell death). We primarily use the genetic organism Drosophila, which exhibits a high conservation of regulatory mechanisms for cell death and possesses a wide range of genetic tools to understand cell death mechanisms at the organism level.
