Fluorescent hybrid gold nanoparticles for diagnostic and therapy
The development of new hybrid nanoplatforms that can combine optical properties of chromophores with inorganic nanomaterials is of increasing interest for biomedical purposes. Nanoparticles have been intensively investigated during the past ten years for similar applications, essentially for use as imaging contrast agent or drug delivery supports. In this context gold nanoparticles appear to be very interesting due to their low toxicity and their optical properties. A interesting idea is to use them as multimodal probe with the aim to combine diagnostic techniques and/or therapy.
In this presentation we will describe the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials combining gold nanoparticles of different shape and size functionalized with a multifunctional polymer. The optical properties of the final objects will be presented together with their behavior in biological media.
