Raphael will present the results of his ERC synergy project "NANOBUBBLES".
Abstract:
Science is self-correcting. This is often repeated. Yet those who try to challenge published results (or to get fraudulent articles retracted) often find that it is at best a slow and painful process. The ERC synergy project NanoBubbles centers on the question of how, when and why does science fails to correct itself [1]. Within that project sits a replication initiative that centers on a paradox in the field of bionanoscience (the use of nanoparticles as intracellular sensors of cytosolic target when nanoparticles enter cells by endocytosis). The presentation will introduce the replication initiative, the open science approach that was followed, the results and conclusions of the first replication [2] and present a call for contributions to this replication effort that aims at improving the reliability of scientific findings.
