The aim of my thesis is to study the interfaces between ionic liquids (IL) and two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor materials, in particular molybdenum disulphide (MoS2), with a view to the design of novel electronic devices based on ionic liquid gating. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques, the organization of the interfacial layers was characterized to understand how the nature of the IL could affect the device performance.
