Since 1950, many out of equilibrium experiments were proposed due to the evolution of both monitoring and observation methods at microscopical scale. These experiments allowed to test many fundamental thermodynamics theorems such as Landauer principle. However, such experiments rely on savvy experimental setups.
In this thesis, we transpose microscopical behaviours to the macroscopical scale. To that end, we choose to use a blade immersed into a granular gas as the Brownian particle. We use electomechanical induction to probe the blade motion.
Using such an ingenious probe, we experimentally realise thermodynamical machines far from the thermodynamic limit. On the one hand, we build several Maxwell's demons, such as the famous Szilard engine. On the other hand, we build a two particles refrigerator. This work allows to test limits of theorems and paves the way for future fundamental development.
