I sketch a somewhat novel view of projective
and indirect measurements of physical systems
described by quantum theory - with the aim of
developing a coherent theory of experiments
and observations in quantum mechanics.
I discuss some concrete examples of physical
systems subjected to repeated projective
measurements that result in the acquisition
of knowledge about events happening in the
system. The projective measurements introduce
randomness into the effective time evolution
of those systems. I will mention some typical
examples of effective time evolutions.
