Fracture in brittle thin sheets are everyday phenomenon that can sometime be frustrating, as the fracture path does not always follow our expectations when opening a package. I will however show that these paths are unusually reproducible in simple experiments, and can be predicted in some several interesting cases, and explain the physics behind our everyday tearing techniques.
