Isolated quantum systems evolve according to the Schrödinger equation. This equation also describes isolated systems consisting of many particles, even though it presents many challenges due to the huge number of degree of freedom involved. In this talk, I will review some of the recent theoretical progress which was made in the understanding of such far from equilibrium dynamics, mostly in low dimensions. In particular fundamental problems such the spreading of information, growth of entanglement, effective descriptions, or thermalization in relation to integrability or lack thereof, and how those articulate with my own research. Such questions can also be explored on quantum devices based on superconducting circuits or ultra-cold atoms, which can stay isolated for relatively long times.
