Due to its biodegradability and renewability, a great interest has been devoted to investigating cellulose acetate (CA) in order to expand its potential applications. In this context, the characterization of CA is one of the keys to promote further developments. Due to their high glass transition temperature, cellulose acetate based systems are processed when blended with plasticizers. It is thus of utmost importance to study the miscibility and plasticizing effects of various molecules. Secondly, our studied system is the one with highly polar interactions. The dynamical properties of this kind of systems have been little studied as compared to non-polar systems.  Our aim was also to understand the relaxation mechanisms of the CA-plasticizer systems and how the various polar interactions can influence on the dynamical properties.

Our work opens the way to further studies regarding the microscopic mechanisms responsible for the different relaxation modes that we identified. We currently extend this work by studying plastic behavior of cellulose acetates materials.
