Renaud Prudent – Affinity Selection-Mass Spectrometry: Beyond Functional Screening

Dates
21/10/2026

Renaud Prudent is Scientific Director at Edelris, where he has implemented AS-MS screening technologies since joining in 2018. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Cellipse, a biotech start-up focused on oncology drug discovery. His postdoctoral research explored synthetic lethality and drug enhancers for cancer therapy. Renaud holds a Ph.D. in chemical biology from Université Grenoble Alpes, where he specialized in screening allosteric kinase inhibitors. He has a strong background in assay development, chemical biology, and translational research. At Edelris, he leads innovation in early-stage discovery platforms. Renaud has co-authored over 25 publications and patents.

High-throughput screening of extensive chemical libraries remains a primary strategy for identifying small-molecule ligands against therapeutic targets. However, conventional functional assays can face limitations when applied to structurally complex or enzymatically inert targets.
In this presentation, I will present some applications of Affinity Selection-Mass Spectrometry (AS-MS), a label-free biophysical method-as an alternative paradigm for exploring diverse chemical space and characterizing direct binding events.
The utility and scope of this approach will be illustrated through screening campaigns on a variety of biological targets, demonstrating its capacity to deliver high-quality hits for challenging targets (such as membrane proteins or RNAs) as well as emerging therapeutic modalities like molecular glues.
