Content objectif

Is gender equality a universal principle that must take precedence over multicultural tolerance? Or is it part of a hegemonic feminism that reinforces racist or ethnocentric prejudices and contributes to the exclusion of minority groups rather than to the protection of their female members?

The seminar will examine the positions that have shaped the ‘Feminism vs Multiculturalism’ debate, drawing on texts from normative political philosophy and feminist critiques rooted in postcolonial studies.

Content prerequis

Average proficiency in reading and discussing texts in English is required

Content modalites

The seminar will be organised around the presentation and discussion of academic research articles or chapters.

The final assessment for the seminar will consist of a 15-minute oral presentation

The first session will take place on Tuesday September, 15th.
