Honors and awards

Patrick Flandrin, CNRS Research Director Emeritus, member of the Physics Laboratory of ENS de Lyon and member of the French Academy of Sciences, receives the IEEE Signal Processing Society's Carl Friedrich Gauss Education Award 2023, for his contributions to the education in time-frequency-based methods and their mathematical foundations.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society has just announced its 2023 awards. They will be presented to members during the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, to be held in April 2024.

Among the various distinctions awarded by the Society, the Carl Friedrich Gauss Education Award honors educators who have made pioneering and significant contributions to signal processing education.

In 2023, Patrick Flandrin, CNRS Research Director Emeritus at the Physics Laboratory of ENS de Lyon, is awarded this prize for his contributions to the education in time-frequency-based methods and their mathematical foundations.

A member of the French Academy of Sciences since 2010, and CNRS silver medallist the same year, Patrick Flandrin is a specialist in time-frequency analysis of non-stationary signals. This year, his work has already earned him the Technical Excellence Award from the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP).
