Summary
This study will systematically review the development of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research both in France and China. By integrating existing theoretical studies and interdisciplinary practices in emerging research universities, the analysis will focus on pathways for fostering and catalyzing interdisciplinary integration. Interdisciplinary training models across different educational stages will be explored, including high school, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels in Lyon and in Shanghai. The research will mainly employ qualitative methodologies, primarily semi-structured interviews, both individual and group interviews. The collected data will be analyzed to identify internal mechanisms and external environmental influences.
A comparative case study approach will be adopted to analyze key research institutions selected through preliminary investigations. The study will examine the degree of interdisciplinary integration, current status, challenges, primary academic development pathways, and curriculum design strategies in these institutions. Additionally, an international comparative analysis will explore interdisciplinary talent cultivation models, curriculum incubation strategies, institutional reforms, and strategic development processes within leading global interdisciplinary research centers. The study will also examine the cultural and contextual reconceptualization of interdisciplinary research and reassess the transferability and scalability of international best practices.
