Visiting Professor 2026–2027: September 21 to November 21, 2026
Host Researcher: Christophe Bucher

Biography

Eduardo Rezende Triboni holds a PhD in Science, with a specialization in Physical Chemistry, which he earned in 2005 from the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (USP); he also holds a Master's degree in the same discipline and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.

After several academic teaching positions and a postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry at USP, he has been an associate professor at the Lorena School of Engineering at that university since 2014. He also heads the Nanotechnology and Process Engineering (NEP) research group and serves on several of the institution’s governing bodies.

His research focuses in particular on nanotechnology, supramolecular chemistry, and the development of materials with functional properties. He coordinates several research projects funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), including ongoing projects for the 2025-2028 period. A recipient of a CNPq productivity grant, he is the author of 46 peer-reviewed scientific articles, one book, and several book chapters, and holds two patents.

Collaboration with LCH

Professor Eduardo Rezende Triboni’s stay at the LCH laboratory will help strengthen a Franco-Brazilian scientific collaboration that has been underway for several years and has already resulted in three joint publications. As a specialist in supramolecular chemistry, he will bring expertise that complements the laboratory’s capabilities in photochemistry and molecular engineering.

His visit will help advance ongoing work and develop new research projects focused on stimulable molecular materials. His work will focus specifically on the light-controlled aggregation and gelation of naphthalene-diimide (NDI)-derived molecules, with the goal of designing photoactive materials exhibiting circularly polarized luminescence properties. These materials could find applications in photonics, cryptography, and information technology, among other fields.

The project will draw on the complementary expertise of the French and Brazilian teams in molecular synthesis, electrochemistry, and spectroscopic characterization, as well as the analytical techniques available at ENS de Lyon. It aims to deepen our understanding of light-induced aggregation mechanisms and to contribute to the development of new functional materials.

Finally, Eduardo Rezende Triboni will present his research at scientific seminars and offer educational sessions on supramolecular chemistry for ENS de Lyon students, thereby contributing to scientific exchange and training at various academic levels.
