Biography
Emilie Doutreloux holds a PhD in Education and a Master's degree in Cooperative and Community Development Management, both from the University of Sherbrooke. She is currently an assistant professor of Sociological and Practical Foundations of Education at Laval University in Quebec, Canada. She also holds the Chair in Leadership in Teaching Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Education. Her research focuses in particular on non-native-English-speaking populations, equal opportunity, change management, and the democratization of higher education.
Collaboration with French Institute of Education (IFÉ)
Emilie Doutreloux’s visit aims to develop a lasting partnership between IFÉ-ENS Lyon and Laval University on issues of inclusion and diversity in higher education. During her stay, she will help develop a three-year collaborative research project focused on adapting teaching practices to the diversity of student populations and on improving student well-being and the student experience. In addition, she will help design a system for gathering student feedback and diagnostic tools on inclusive teaching practices, tailored to the French context, particularly to support the transition from high school to university.
In addition, working with I-SUP and the Center for Foreign Languages, she will analyze institutional resistance to pedagogical changes and support the local adaptation of inclusive practices that have already been proven effective in Canada. She will strengthen I-SUP’s training offerings in inclusive pedagogy by helping to develop modules, tools, and resources for faculty and staff in higher education and research.
Her collaboration will include producing webinars, pedagogical workshops, and standalone modules, as well as contributing to a white paper on the barriers and drivers of inclusive education in higher education. Drawing on her international expertise and scientific network, she will help I-SUP develop a community of practice and a Francophone network dedicated to pedagogical innovation.
