Honors and awards

On Tuesday, November 22, two ceremonies honored members of the ENS de Lyon.

Talents CNRS 2022

Among the 2022 winners, the ENS Lyon has several bronze medals and a crystal medal.

 

The Bronze medal rewards the first work of a researcher, which makes him or her a promising specialist in his or her field:

  • Marianne Métois, lecturer Claude-Bernard Lyon 1 University, member of LGL-TPE
  • Aurèle Piazza, CNRS Researcher at LBMC
  • Lucile Savary, CNRS Researcher at LPENSL
  • and our alumni:
    • Émilie Capron, CNRS researcher at the Institute of Environmental Geosciences (IGE - CNRS/IRD/University of Grenoble Alpes) and Klervia Jaouen, CNRS researcher at the Géosciences Environnement Toulouse laboratory (GET - CNRS/Cnes/IRD/University of Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier), former students of the ENS de Lyon Earth Sciences Department, as Marianne Métois.
    • Clément Camp, CNRS researcher at the laboratory of Catalysis, Polymerisation, Process and Materials (CP2M - CNRS/CPE Lyon/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1), 2006 class, Master of Chemistry of ENS de Lyon.

 

The Crystal medal rewards CNRS engineers, technicians, and administrative staff whose creativity, expertise, and sense of innovation have contributed, alongside researchers, to the advancement of knowledge and the excellence of French research:

  • Frédérique Rozier, engineer at the Plant Reproduction and Development Laboratory (RDP - CNRS/ENS de Lyon/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1/INRAE/INRIA).

Recipients from Lyon were honored at the CNRS Rhône Auvergne Talent Ceremony on November 22, 2022.

CNRS Medal for Scientific Mediation 2022

A tireless promoter of the usefulness and beauty of mathematics, Étienne Ghys is one of the four recipients of this distinction created by the CNRS a year ago, to promote scientific mediation activities.

The parity-equality unit of the Institute of Information Sciences and their Interactions (INS2I) of the CNRS also received the medal for scientific mediation, for its group "Decoding the digital world in comics", which includes Pierre Chainais, professor at the École Centrale de Lille, alumni of ENS de Lyon, Sciences 1993 competition.

The Medal for Scientific Mediation was awarded at a national ceremony on November 18, 2022.

French Academy of Sciences 2022 Prizes

Among the 2022 laureates, the ENS de Lyon is proud to count :

  • Janne Blichert-Toft, CNRS Research Director at LGL-TPE. Laureate of the Dolomieu Prize from the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research.
  • Mickaël Bourgoin, CNRS Research Director at LPENSL. Laureate of the ONERA-Mechanical Sciences Prize for aeronautics and aerospace.
  • Gwyneth Ingram, CNRS Research Director and Director of the RDP. Laureate of the Foulon Prize.

as well as three alumn:

  • Laurent Fargues, CNRS Research Director, former student of ENS de Lyon, Sciences competition 1995. Laureate of the Léonid Frank Prize.
  • Bruno Hudry, CNRS Researcher, Master degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at ENS de Lyon in 2007. Laureate of the Dr. and Mrs. Henri Labbé Award.
  • Marié-Hélène Verlhac, CNRS Research Director, former student of ENS de Lyon, Sciences competition 1988. Laureate of the Jaffé Prize - Foundation of Institut de France

The recipients received their awards at the French Academy of Sciences Awards Ceremonies on October 18 and November 22, 2022.
