Guido Pintacuda, CNRS Research Director and Director of the High-Field NMR Center (CNRS / ENS de Lyon / University of Lyon 1), has just been awarded the Günther Laukien Prize. Established in 1999, the prize is awarded annually at the ENC Conference (the largest international conference on magnetic resonance). It recognizes innovative experimental NMR research with strong potential for enabling new applications.
“Dr. Guido Pintacuda has played a pivotal role in the development of fast magic-angle spinning (MAS) solid-state NMR, thanks to a longstanding collaboration with scientists at Bruker,” commented the jury members. His work has contributed to the evolution of MAS, from early fast-rotation approaches to today’s ultra-fast regimes (> 100 kHz), combining methodological innovation with demanding applications. In particular, the development of high-field proton detection approaches for the study of membrane proteins, biomolecular assemblies, paramagnetic systems, and functional materials has significantly expanded the scope and impact of solid-state NMR across numerous disciplines.”
