Honors and awards

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has named the 50 recipients of 2022 Union Medals and Awards. These individuals are honoured for their important contributions to the Earth, planetary and space sciences.

Janne Blichert-Toft – CNRS Research director at the Laboratory of Geology of ENS de Lyon – is the recipient of the 2022 Robert Wilhelm Bunsen Medal.

This medal was established by the Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology & Volcanology Division in recognition of the scientific achievements of Robert Wilhelm Bunsen. It is awarded for distinguished research in geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology and volcanology.

They will be celebrated during the EGU General Assembly, which will be held from April 3-8, 2022.

Jane Blichert-Toft is a world leader in the application of isotope geochemistry to address key scientific questions on the origin and evolution of the Earth and planetary bodies, extending also into geoarchaeology. She was awarded the 2022 Robert Wilhelm Bunsen Medal  in recognition of fundamental research and unique applications of isotope geochemistry.
