Dans le cadre du colloque international Hospitalité et régulation sociale et politique dans l’Antiquité méditerranéenne : penser le singulier et le collectif, une table ronde grand public, animée par l’historienne B. Cabouret, sera l’occasion de dialoguer avec des chercheurs internationalement reconnus, représentant différentes approches du phénomène social et culturel de l’hospitalité : M.-L. Basilien-Gainche (juriste) A. Gotman (sociologue), C. Moatti et P. Schmitt Pantel (historiennes spécialistes de l’Antiquité), et J.-C. Zancarini (spécialiste de l’histoire des idées). Les participants débattront autour de la question, éminemment complexe et actuelle, des « lois de l’hospitalité », en s’interrogeant sur la nature de ces lois, sur leur champ d’action, sur leur application mais aussi sur les tensions que ne manque pas de faire émerger l’institutionnalisation de l’hospitalité par la loi. Une période d’échanges avec le public viendra clore la table ronde.

During the international conference Hospitality and social and political regulation in Mediterranean Antiquity: individuals versus community, an open roundtable, chaired by the historian B. Cabouret, will allow the audience to converse with internationally renowned specialists of diverse social and cultural approaches on hospitality: M.-L. Basilien-Gainche (law), A. Gotman (sociology), C. Moatti and P. Schmitt Pantel (Ancient history), and J.-C. Zancarini (history of ideas). The participants will debate the challenging issue of “the laws of hospitality”, addressing the nature of these laws, their perimeter of action, their application, but also the tensions to which the institutionalization of hospitality through law can lead. A time of discussion with the audience will conclude the roundtable.
