Content objectif

ECO-3109 : Mathematics 1

Responsible teacher: Clément BERGER (clement.berger [at] ens-lyon.fr)

The course will start with general notions of linear algebra. Recalls about vector spaces, dimension and linear applications will be made. We will stay in finite dimension, with a focus on matrices. Results about invertibility, determinant and reduction will be studied.

These results will be used for differential calculus, with the generalization of integration et derivation to functions of multiple variables. Differential equations and basics of differential geometry, may be studied depending on time.

Content prerequis

For linear algebra, basics about vector spaces and matrices are assumed to be known. One variable analysis (derivation, integration) should also be known.

However note that for both topics, necessary definitions and results will be recalled if necessary.

Content modalites

The course consists in 8 lectures of 3 hours given by Clément Berger, along with 6 practical sessions of 2 hours given by Joseph Enguehard.

There will be a housework around the middle of the course plus an exam at the end.
