Content objectif

ECO-5107 : Topics in microeconomics

We cannot always rely on a competitive equilibrium for every allocation problem. Alternative mechanisms have been (and are being) developed for a number of important problems. This course will mainly discuss matching markets, which operate without a price adjusting to clear the market, with a focus on efficiency and incentives. Applications to be considered include assignment of students to schools.

Content prerequis

A good understanding of microeconomic theory (as in BAC+3 in economics or similar). A good command of multivariate calculus is necessary.

Content modalites

This is a 4-week course, with 6 hours of lectures per week.
