Content objectif

ECO-5203 : Topics in macroeconomics

Topics in macroeconomics is made of classes dealing with labor market, fiscal policy, debt and default issues, overlapping generation models and endogenous growth. Emphasis is put on introducing intuition and developing tools. All classes review core, standard models and the role of policy therein.

Content prerequis

Knowledge of macroeconomics at intermediate level is preferable, although not formally required.

Content modalites

The course consists of 8 mandatory lectures, and 2 optional exercises (1 referee report and 1 problem set). Lectures gather the following topics:

Optimization methods
Labor market and matching models of unemployment
Fiscal policy and Ricardian equivalence
Nominal debt, monetary policy and time inconsistency
Sovereign debt and default models
OLG models
Endogenous growth models
