This course is designed to boost your English from B2 to B2+, if not C1, and is specifically for students who feel like they have been ‘stagnating’ in their English learning. We will tackle all 4 skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) as well as all 3 knowledge areas (grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation).
There is no set topic for this course as you will be evaluated on the writing and ‘reciting’ of blog posts. You will choose the subject of your blog, as well as its intended audience and level of formality.
During the second class of the semester, you will write your very first blog post. You will then receive audio feedback and a mark for your new blog post, and using that you will edit it instead of coming to class. Then, you will read your blog post out loud in the next class, which is when you will be marked on your pronunciation. You will also receive audio feedback and a mark for your edited blog post. This cycle will happen three times during the semester.
In addition to this, you will read blog posts and watch vlog videos, provide summaries of these, and discuss them with your classmates. Your participation in these interactions is evaluated in your participation grade.
Finally, there will be online grammar and vocabulary exercises to do throughout the semester that will help you with the final online grammar and vocabulary exam.
