The international Times Higher Education (THE) ranking remains innovative and offers this year a new global Top 100 of institutions with an international vocation.

With 2,362 students, 13% of whom are international students, a student-teacher ratio of 8.9 and a male-female ratio of 48:52, the ENS de Lyon is ranked 77th worldwide and 4th nationally.

The 6 French institutions ranked are Polytechnique (32nd), Université Paris sciences et lettres (49th), Sorbonne University (67th), ENS de Lyon (77th), Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées (86th) and Aix-Marseille University (92nd).

In order to proceed with this ranking, several evaluation factors were taken into account: the proportion of international students and staff; the number of collaborations with academics from all over the world as well as the number of publications within the framework of these collaborations; and the international reputation of the institution.

Analysis by Times Higher Education suggests that diverse communities of students improve the teaching and learning experience, while opportunities for students to spend time abroad better prepare them to become global citizens.
