JOBIM is an annual meeting for the French-speaking bioinformatics community. Some 400 doctoral students, post-docs and senior researchers took part in the 2016 edition, held at the ENS de Lyon from June 28 to 30. JOBIM, under the authority of the French Bioinformatics Society, is a catalyzer for exchange in information science (big data), mathematical and statistical tools, around issues linked to molecular biology.
The conference welcomed six guest lecturers who came to present their work, and featured plenary sessions as well as seminars on the sidelines.
SIX GUEST LECTURERS
  • Louis Lambrecht (France): Populations’ genomics and ecology
  • Robert Gentleman (USA): Statistical modeling for NGS
  • Alexandros Stamatakis (Allemagne): Phylogenesis and evolution
  • Jeroen Raes (Belgique): Metagenomics and metabarcoding
  • Isabelle Callebaut (France): Structural bioinformatics
  • Stein Aerts (Belgique): Biology of systems and interaction networks

AWARDS
The French Bioinformatics Society awarded the following prizes:
The next edition of JOBIM will be held in Lille, in 2017.
