Prof. He Mingyuan, a pioneer in green chemistry in China and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. Proudly wearing the toga, many members of the Chinese delegation attended the ceremony to congratulate their compatriot and peer, but also to celebrate excellent relations between East China Normal University and the ENS de Lyon, and more generally between China and France.
Jean-François Pinton, president of the ENS de Lyon, led the ceremony, which was also attended by the Chinese consul general in Lyon, Wang Ju, and Françoise Moulin Civil, rector of the Academy of Lyon and the Rhône Auvergne region, who gave a closing speech.
Prof. Laurent Bonneviot, lecturer and researcher at the ENS de Lyon’s chemistry lab and higher foreign expert at ECNU, praised the work of Prof. He Mingyuan, with whom he has collaborated for many years as part of student exchanges and joint publications.
Violist Kangkang Sun, student at the Conservatoire de musique de Lyon (CNSMD), performed two pieces of European classical music throughout the ceremony, and delighted the audience with traditional Chinese music during the cocktail.
